Dream: The New Pickup Truck

In this dream I'm walking through a parking garage over to this really nice pickup truck.  I'm not a truck guy, so I'm not entirely sure what make/model it was, probably either Ford or Chevy.  Anyhow, I was made to understand that I'd just recently bought it as a second/utility vehicle to be used for things that I couldn't do with my current vehicle (2018 Honda Civic), that I'd paid $4000 for it, and was very pleased with what I got.  It was used, and obviously had quite a few miles on it, but it'd been kept in really good shape by the prior owner.  I also understood that I'd recently washed and waxed it, and the exterior looked great.  I mean, it obviously looked like a late model truck, but still in good shape, very little rust, etc.

I then showed it to some friends who were impressed with it, saying it was a good choice, and well, well worth what I'd paid for it.  It was a cab and a half design (ie, full seats up front, jump seats in the back of the cab) and had a bed with a tonneau cover. (it sounds like I know what I'm talking about, but really I don't.  This is just common knowledge stuff.)  There was also one of those large, locking toolboxes in the bed of the truck.  However, strangely, this toolbox was located halfway down the bed, just over the wheel wells, and there was a half tonneau cover attached to the backside of this box (facing the cab) going up to the cab.  The back half of the bed was uncovered.

I noticed in the bed you could clearly see that this had seen lots of use because, while the body of the truck was mostly pristine, the bed showed obvious signs of usage, scraps, nicks, dents, rust, etc.  This was not surprising to me in any way, and didn't bother me as I expected that from an older truck, and especially one that I'd bought at that price point.  I then remember showing this to my friends who were very pleased with it saying it was a good pick, and that I'd chosen well.  We then spent time talking about the truck, past vehicles, and things like that.  Just idle chit chat basically.  However, as we did, one of the guys began unsnapping the tonneau cover and rolling it back saying, "You should remove this as it's old technology.  We'll find you something better."

I agreed to this, as I knew they knew more about trucks than I did, so I deferred to their greater knowledge.  We also talked about moving the toolbox up to the front of the bed where it belonged, as even they weren't sure why the previous owner put it there in the middle.  We then continued chit chatting about all the great ways, how it could be used, past vehicles that they'd had, great memories of their first trucks, and so on. (yes, this would be the first truck I'd ever owned as all I've ever owned were sedans)  So it seems like to me that this truck will serve an important, albeit limited roll in my life since my Civic will be doing most of the primary work, whereas this will be used to go/do things that the Civic can't.  At least, not if I don't want to ruin it. ^_^
